Happy New Year! I hope your holiday was filled with a lot of love and laughter.
As the year kicks off, I like to use January as my month to prepare for the year and to focus on God’s vision for my life. (For me that includes a 21 day fast, I’ve done a fast last January and it helped me to zone in and focus on the vision)
So as I’m preparing and getting fueled up for the year, I want to encourage and empower you to fearlessly walk into 2021. Be ready to take hold of everything with your name on it. Let go of any fear you may have as you start the new year.
Fear of the unknown
Fear of losing
Fear of judgment
Fear of stepping out on faith
Fear of being hurt
Fear of making the wrong decision
Fear of __(Insert your fear here)____
Before we can receive everything this year has for us, we have to get our fears out of the way. Last year revealed a lot to me about myself including fears I didn’t realize I had and how much I worried. This year I’m choosing to be fearless. It may come but it can’t stay.
Fear is internal, it starts in our mind and then affects our physical body with anxiety, no sleeping, eating habits, sickness, etc. It is designed to steal from you and it will keep you from moving forward in life. Many dreams die because fear took over. Don’t let fear stop you from going after your dreams this year. On the other side of fear is always greatness.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
We have to learn to control what comes into our minds. When we meditate on our fear, it distracts us from the things we are called to do and the ONE we need to be focused on. Overcoming fear means to trust. We have to consistently trust in God and know that he has us in his hands.
You may have fear of making the wrong decision. It’s okay, God’s grace and mercy are always there. Trust he will guide your steps and get you back on your path.
Even when things go wrong, forgive yourself and keep going. We will never be perfect and God doesn’t expect us to be.
You may have a fear of stepping out on faith with that business idea, relationship, or any dream in your heart. Don’t let fear make you miss your opportunity of greatness.
Before we can truly focus on the vision for the year, we have to remove the fearful mindsets. So that we are ready to be all that we can be and go after everything God has for us.
Transparent moment: I love planning and organizing things. It comes naturally to me and can be calming. I can plan and organize any and everything without even thinking about it. I see it as one of my gifts. However, whenever I come across moments in my life where I don’t know what’s next and can’t plan it out, I find myself fearing the unknown. It became more aware to me in 2020. So now whenever I find myself worrying or becoming fearful I read this scripture and speak life into myself. It’s become a daily routine.
Don’t be afraid, For I am with you
Don’t be discouraged, For I am your God
I will strengthen you and help you
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand
Isaiah 41:10
It reminds me that God is always with me and that I’m victorious.
We all fear at some point but don’t let it linger.
Speak life into yourself and push the fear out.
Don’t leave anything on the table this year. It’s already yours!
