Encouragement for the Wait

Hey! Happy Flourishing Friday!

Just wanted to share some encouragement today for those who are in a waiting season.

Waiting is not easy especially when it’s been a really long time and you see NOTHING changing. But I want to encourage you today to keep hanging on. This may be the most important season you have to go through before you see your promise. This may be where God is building your foundation. He may be adding and removing things just to prepare you. In my seasons of waiting God would remind me not to get attached to the things I’m waiting for but to grow closer to him. He shows me all I need is him and renews my strength to keep going.

He hasn’t forgotten about you or your heart's desires. He hears you and is with you even when he seems silent. Don’t give up, your waiting season is filled with so much purpose. God is setting you up for your promise. There have been plenty of times when I had to wait for something that I thought would never happen or At least no time soon then all of sudden it catches me off guard. Everything changes and falls into place.

Take your focus off the wait and expect to be caught off guard. Stop trying to plan out how you would like things to happen or how you think it will happen. Surrender your wait to God and let him line it all up for you. God's timing is truly perfect and we often don’t see why we had to wait until we get the blessing. There have been so many moments in my life where I’ve seen why God didn’t move me yet or why God closed doors.

3 years before I bought my first home, I always talked and prayed about wanting a house but for some reason, It didn’t happen. During those years God was teaching me about being a good steward, especially with my finances. I was budgeting, saving, paying off debt, and most importantly being consistent. I stayed at the same job even when I thought it was time for me to find something else. I would apply to other jobs and God would close those doors. Little did I know that 3 years later the opportunity of purchasing a home would catch me off guard and I WOULD ACTUALLY BE READY. Everything lined up perfectly for me to sign the contract in just 2 weeks. It was the easiest process because I had everything in order. My financial stewardship helped increase my credit score and pay off my debt. God closing those doors to other jobs helped keep my job history up to par for my paperwork.

Truth be told, during those 3 years, I never understood why I couldn’t move out of my apartment or why I couldn’t find another job. I was soooo frustrated because I didn’t know what God was doing or if he even heard my prayers. Looking back now I understand why he had me wait. Living in my fully furnished home with no debt (besides my mortgage), I can only say God did that!

I tell this story to say YOUR WAIT HAS PURPOSE. IT IS A SETUP! Let go of the hows and whys. Let go of the control and let God be God. The wait may not feel good at times and may not get easier. But remember the things God has done for you already. Focus on who he is and how much he loves you. He doesn’t want to hurt you and he is not mad at you. Your wait is not a punishment. God doesn’t work on our time but he knows the right time.

Surrender your wait and let him renew your strength. Keep moving in faith and get excited for what’s to come because it will be great.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what god has prepared for those who love him.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭NLT‬‬
