Fresh Start

The new year always brings a fresh start to life. We tend to view it as a time to reset and refocus. A time to let go of the old and receive the new. Last year could have been one of the toughest years of our lives, but it’s always something about the new year that gives us hope and the opportunity to start fresh. We start making new goals and plans for the year. We began to write/design our visions. We get ready to take on the year strong as ever.

But why is it we only view the new year as a time to start fresh?

God gives us the opportunity to start fresh EVERY DAY, but we don’t take a hold of it.

His mercies are new every morning, but we still hold on to past mistakes and failures daily.

As soon as we fail at one of our goals, we give up and start over the next year. As I was preparing for the new year, God reminded me that I didn't need a new year to start fresh. With him, I have that opportunity every day.

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-24‬

As you start your year and work towards your new goals, remember to give yourself grace along the way. Release the pressure from the world that you have to have it all together in one year. We don’t know what life may throw at us. There may be a moment where you didn’t complete your goal or your plans didn’t go as you thought, but don’t quit. Receive God's mercy and start fresh every morning.

Don’t give up on your goals because of a mistake. Go after them every day like it’s a new year. God's love for you will never end and his mercies will never cease.

Now make this your best year yet! Not just because you achieved every goal on your list, but because you received God's love and mercy every day.

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
