God should be above all things in our lives.
He doesn’t want to be an afterthought or only needed when we want blessings. He wants a relationship with you.
When I was younger I didn’t understand what it meant to have a relationship with God. Like how do you build a relationship with God?
As I got older I learned that in order to build a relationship with God you have to set time apart for him just like you would do any relationship. That can include:
Reading the bible
Praying
Worshipping
Fasting
Reading daily devotionals
Listening to a sermon
Whatever helps you set time apart for God to show up. It’s truly a moment that you have to experience on your own. It’s a one on one journey.
He cares about you and everything you’re going through. Every tear, heartache, and loss. He sees you right where you are. When you don’t set time apart, life starts to get out of hand. You start to lose faith, be stressed out, fearful, worrying but when you stay close with him he walks you through your storms untouched. He restores your faith and hope.
Without him, every relationship and opportunity will fail. We are nothing without him. Stewarding your relationship with God is the key that unlocks all of your blessings.
Gods got me through many things I thought I’d never get out of but I had to stay close to him. I couldn’t let anything distract me. The enemy is ready to get us off course at all times we have to stay alert.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8
We have to feed our souls on a daily. Let God fill you up with his love. His love overpowers every fear, pain, insecurity that we may have. He moves mountains when we rest in him. He fights your battles when you rest in him. He brings light into your darkness. Culture can convince you that a life without God is cool and not necessary but going on without him leads to destruction.
He wants to be #1 in your life:
Over your marriage/relationships
Over your jobs/money
Over every plan/idea
When you prioritize his relationship he brings everything you need.
"Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need" Matthew 6:33
4 years ago when I was broken God put this scripture in my heart. As I started my new journey of singleness, purpose, and identity I kept that scripture at the forefront at all times. And I still hold tightly to it this day even after I saw him bring me through. It’s what I live my life by. When I don’t know what to do, I seek him. When I’m weak, I seek him. You don't have to be perfect to seek him. He just wants your heart.
I hope this blog encourages you to build and steward your relationship with God. Just do your best to set time apart. It’s truly life-changing.
"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:6
