At some point have you asked the question “What is my purpose?” “What was I put here on earth to do.” I know for me I have asked this question a bunch of times and tried to search for that answer. You see some people know their purpose early on and start using their gifts at a young age which is awesome. But then you have people like me who had to go through the challenges of life for purpose to be revealed.
In 2017 I began my search for purpose and at the beginning of 2020 was when God started revealing glimpses of it to me. Once God started revealing parts of my purpose, I realized I was going about it the wrong way. I learned that purpose is not something you have to find. Your purpose is already discovered; it just hasn’t been revealed to you yet. God gave each of us a purpose, as he knew us before we were born.
The key that helped me discover my purpose was to simply be in position for God to reveal it to me. I needed to stop searching externally and just position myself internally with God. Here I share 3 ways that I positioned myself for God’s vision and I hope it helps you in your purpose journey.
1. Become Aware of the places God has called you too
God has you in specific places in your life for a reason. He knows exactly where you are. He knows what’s in your heart, every strength, and every struggle. So nothing in your life, good or bad, is a surprise to God. He uses places in our lives to teach us things, to bring things out of us, to bless us, or to protect us. But it is up to us to become aware of the places he called us to and also the ones he didn’t. Whether it’s that job, relationship, family, community, friendship, or even the season of life, becoming aware of your called places will help you receive what God has for you there.
2. Be a good steward to those places
Once you become aware, begin to be a good steward to those places. You may not like your job but if God placed you there be your best every day. Steward the relationships God has put in your life well.
When you pour into others God will bring someone to pour back into you. Take care of the home God blessed you with. Manage your money well. In every place God has you, be the best you can be. Show up and be a good steward. Not every day will be perfect and you may not want to some days but wake up with that mindset that you are going to give your all.
3. Most importantly Spend time with God
Make time every day to pray, to worship, to read God’s word. You have to grow your relationship with God so that he can reveal purpose to you. We can’t ask “What is our purpose?” and not go to the one who gave it to us. I know life can be hectic and we can have busy schedules but start small. Take 10 minutes in the morning, or on your lunch, or in your car, and just spend time with God. God cares more about your relationship with him than anything else. Get to know him and sit still in his presence so that he can direct you and give you everything you need for the day. He is always with you; he is just waiting for you to make time for him. God will keep revealing as long as you keep seeking. Walking in purpose is a journey, not a destination.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them
Ephesians 2:10
This post resonates with me. I have been seeking for my purpose since 2019. God has revealed bits and pieces but I still find myself feeling overwhelmed and stuck at times. Reading your post has really helped me. I am guilty of asking and asking but not spending enough time with Him for Him to reveal it. Its like I am constantly trying to figure it out on my own with the little revelation He has given me. Instead of slowing down, reading the word and waiting on Him to whisper His next desired move for me.
I really love your blog will keep coming in to read I'm already inspired. Thanking you all the way from Namibia Africa.🤗
